Transferring keeps the domain yours; it just changes who looks after it, so renewals and settings are in one place with us.
Before you start
- Make sure the domain isn’t locked at your current provider (look for Registrar lock or Transfer lock).
- Ask your current provider for the domain’s transfer code (also called an EPP, auth or domain password).
- Check the registrant email address is one you can receive mail at, as approval emails go there.
Start the transfer
- Go to Domains and choose Transfer.
- Enter the domain name and the transfer code.
- Complete the order in MyToolbox and approve any confirmation email you receive.
Your website and email keep working during a transfer as long as the nameservers don’t change. If you’d like us to move your hosting too, ask about a free hosting transfer.
